Tok Oei Kee (JenTok)

Artist • Educator • Founder of Mystic Gardens

JenTok (Tok Oei Kee) is a Singapore-based artist whose practice explores the quiet relationship between nature, memory, and emotional reflection. Working across ink, watercolor, mixed media, textiles, and installation, her works emerge through layered observation and contemplative making — often inspired by waterways, botanical forms, ecological textures, and moments of stillness within urban life.

Her paintings invite slower ways of seeing, where fragments of landscape, memory, and atmosphere dissolve into poetic visual narratives. Through transparency, layering, and tactile surfaces, she explores themes of transformation, healing, fragility, and renewal.

Rooted in both studio practice and community engagement, JenTok’s work extends beyond the canvas into participatory workshops, ecological projects, and socially engaged creative experiences. Her evolving practice reflects an ongoing dialogue between art, sustainability, education, and emotional connection to the natural world.

Alongside her artistic practice, she is the Founder and Director of Mystic Gardens which is  a creative platform dedicated to botanical wellness, nature-based learning, and community-centered art experiences.

Her work continues to evolve through research, observation, cultural immersion, and interdisciplinary exploration, bridging contemporary art with ecological awareness and reflective living.

My Story

My journey into art began as a return to stillness, observation, and a more mindful relationship with the world around me.

After many years working within the health and wellness industry, I turned toward art-making as a space for reflection, healing, and quiet discovery.

What started with ink and watercolor on calico gradually expanded into a broader exploration of materials, textures, and ecological storytelling. From painting and printmaking to installation and participatory projects, each process became a way of understanding how memory, emotion, and environment intertwine through time.

I am particularly drawn to surfaces that carry traces of transformation such as  the softness of layered pigment, the unpredictability of water, the textures of fabric, and the quiet rhythms found within nature. These subtle moments often become metaphors for emotional landscapes: fragile, shifting, restorative, and deeply human.

Through Mystic Gardens, I extend this philosophy into workshops and community experiences that combine art, mindfulness, botanical learning, and sustainability. Whether creating contemplative studio works or facilitating collective creative experiences, I see art as a bridge to connect people to themselves, to one another, and to the natural environment.

At the heart of my practice is a desire to create spaces for reflection, connection, and renewed awareness — where art becomes not only something we observe, but something we feel and carry into everyday life.
