Size: A2 | Year: 2025
Category: Printmaking | Current Project

Overview

The Nature Within is a layered fine art print that reflects Jennifer’s deep interest in nature-inspired storytelling and emotional regeneration.

The artwork features anatomical hearts blooming into butterflies and wild flora — a symbolic expression of healing and personal transformation through the rhythms of the natural world.

This printmaking project demonstrates Jennifer’s ability to merge technical craft with conceptual depth, blending silkscreen precision with the organic spontaneity of monoprint textures.

Artistic Process

The composition was developed through hand-drawn illustrations on transparencies, which were later printed as part of a manual silkscreen process. These images were layered over a monoprint background created using preserved ferns and other botanical materials, producing subtle, natural imprints that evoke the textures of forest life.

Jennifer worked with earthy and metallic inks, choosing each colour to reflect the emotional tone and layered meaning of the piece. The result is a tactile, meditative print that speaks to growth, fragility, and resilience.

Techniques Highlight

Conceptual Reflection
  • Monoprinting with real ferns for botanical mark-making

  • Hand-pulled silkscreen using original ink drawings

  • Layered printing on dry paper for visual clarity and depth

  • Controlled use of colour, texture, and negative space

Conceptual Statement

The Natue Within.jpg

The Nature Within reminds us that growth happens inwardly, quietly — like a heart blooming in the stillness. By printing with real botanical textures and personal symbolism, Jennifer invites the viewer to reflect on their own cycles of healing and renewal.
